Enjoy a Bigger God

‘In each of my friends there is something that only some other friend can fully bring out. By myself I am not large enough to call the whole man into activity; I want other lights than my own to show all his facets…’ - C S LEWIS

I love the way C S Lewis explains the beauty of community. We need each other in order to understand and see one another more fully. In my sermon last Sunday I told the story of how my 7 year old son had made a “unique” breakfast for my wife on her birthday last week. Anna’s response to Zach’s “explorative” offering showed me more about her in a way that I cannot bring out on my own. It is also true of us and God. We each reflect the light of God as we share our stories of what Jesus has done through each other and this illuminates aspects of God we might otherwise never see.

I was encouraged by this testimony about friendship submitted by someone yesterday:

‘My story is of a faith that was all but dead, dormant and buried deep underground. Present in name, but my heart had not been in it for far too long. Through the gentle witness of a friend from STN that faith began to stir and the flame of the Holy Spirit was lit again. I can pin point the day I prayed for the first time in years and Jesus welcomed me back into His arms and back into life. Since then the last year has been one of incredible blessing spiritually, in friendships, in work and financially.’

‘My search for a church led me to STN and God has been working in my life though this church (Sunday’s, friendships, connect groups, opportunities to serve and more), and I have rediscovered who I am in Christ but know there is still more to come! There are storms in my life at the moment and I am not quite sure where God is leading me, but as cliche as it sounds I know Who I am following and that if I follow Jesus’ voice He will safely guide me each step of the way.’

“It’s my joy to be a part of this church family and support it in prayer as well as practically. I just hope that God lets me stay in Norwich for a while longer to see what more He has got in store for us and for this city. It’s going to be a fantastic adventure! “

“Thank you Lord for all you have done in my life and all that You are doing through the STN church family. Would You make our vision bigger and give us the faith to step out knowing that You will do immeasurably more than all we can ask or imagine.’

WOW! It is great to see people being stirred and responding. Catch up on the sermon. Read the request “Dear Church” and can I humbly ask you to see if you are able to:

  1. Review your giving  —  together a little goes a long way. Checkout the giving page for how to do this.

  2. Start Giving (Luke 21:1–4)  —  its about the heart not the “how much”.

  3. Gift Aid!

Thank you.
