The Sanctuary Coffee Stop is a not for profit enterprise run to support the wider vision for The Sanctuary, St Alban’s Church to be a safe and vibrant space for the community. We seek to offer outrageous hospitality through staff and volunteers some of whom we are supporting to gain experience of work and of being part of a team. Any surplus income we make goes to the STN Trust to support their charitable work locally, nationally and internationally.

Volunteers are always welcome to join the team of staff and volunteers. Volunteers will need to have a commitment to offering Outrageous Hospitality to Sanctuary users. As a volunteer you will work alongside placements from the STN Trust and others who we are supporting to gain experience of the world of work. You will also have the joy of knowing that profits from the Sanctuary are passed to STN Trust to use for their charitable purposes.

Training will be given on working in the cafe and in food hygiene and no prior experience is needed.

Where you can help

  • Serve and prepare food and drink
  • Clear tables and wash up
  • Work on the till
  • Administration, ordering and finance
  • Maintaining the food preparation area

Sanctuary volunteers come both from the church and the community. All join the fabulous Sanctuary team who find fun, fulfilment and reward from being part of this exciting enterprise. Church members are encouraged to understand the link between “outrageous hospitality” and following the example of Jesus.
